Complementary Medicine is used with the traditional western Medical System to offer the most complete and all inclusive care for each patient. An example would be using Aromatherapy to help a patient feel more comfortable during surgery. At San Juan Chiropractic,we happily work with our patients and other medical professionals in town to serve our patients and ensure the best overall care for each person.

Alternative Medicine is used as a replacement to receiving traditional western medical care. An example would be using a special diet to treat cancer in place of surgery or radiation. The therapists and doctors at San Juan Chiropractic support our patient's decisions to choose alternative therapies and the supplementation options we offer, but will direct patients to seek traditional medical care when necessary.

There are four major types of Complementary and Alternative Medicine.

Biologically Based Practices: herbs, vitamins, whole food nutrition

There are also, Alternative Whole Medical System Practices which may have overlaps between practices. Some example are Ayruvedic, Naturopathic, Homeopathic and Tradition Chinese Medicine.
